If you can guess, we learned sealants today. It was fun, because we all needed one or two. The cool part about sealants, is what they do.
Sealants are put on teeth that have deep pits or grooves. Normally, they are put on permanent teeth when they first come in as a child to prevent tooth decay or cavities. They are a low cost solution to save teeth throughout our life, but that doesn't mean we can skip brushing our teeth. It only protects the grooves and pits which are usually found on one surface of the tooth. What you may not know though, is you should get these refilled when needed. Your dental professional can inform you if you need a fill or not on your next checkup. Anyway, back to my experience. The procedure was pretty easy since I have seen it done a few times in my pre-dental hygiene clinic experience. I am just glad I had a not too stressful day. Gotta go!
Mark, out.
